There are some advantages of ultrasonic level measurement which are given below,
- The ultrasonic level measurement is suitable for measurement in liquid and solid.
- It is simple in construction and design.
- It does not require contact with processed material.
- It provides continuous level measurement.
- It has high accuracy.
- The sensitivity is high.
There are some disadvantages of ultrasonic level measurement which are given below,
- The ultrasonic level measurement is comparatively expensive.
- If heavy foam is present on the surface it acts as an absorbent which creates errors.
- Targets of low density, like foam and cloth, tend to absorb sound energy; these materials may be difficult to sense at long range.
