The significance of relative viscosity at a different temperature is-
- The relative viscosity of lubricants increases with a decrease in temperature.
- This leads to poor lubricating property due to thickening of lubricant film which reduces moving to slide motions of the machine part.
- It decreases with increase in temperature in temperature this leads to poor lubricating property due to the breaking of lubricant film leading to wear and tear of the machine.
- The lubricant which shows slight changes in relative viscosity with respect to temperature changes is a good lubricant.
