Following are the difference between generator and motor

| It is based on the principle of dynamically. | It is based on the principle that when current-carrying conductors are placed in magnetic field, it experiences forces. |

| It is driven by mechanical machine which develops voltage which in turn produces current. | It is supplied by electric current which develops torque which in turn produces rotation. |
