Following are the difference between generator and motor
Generator | Motor |
---|---|
It converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. | It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. |
It is based on the principle of dynamically. | It is based on the principle that when current-carrying conductors are placed in magnetic field, it experiences forces. |
The direction is given by Fleming’s right-hand rule. | The direction is given by Fleming’s left-hand rule. |
It is driven by mechanical machine which develops voltage which in turn produces current. | It is supplied by electric current which develops torque which in turn produces rotation. |
It uses Fleming’s right-hand rule to determine the direction of induced current. | It uses Fleming’s left-hand rule to determine the direction of force produced. |
Application:- Lighting, power supply, battery charging etc. | Application:- centrifugal pump, blowers and, fans, lathe machine tools, reciprocating, pump etc. |
