Following are the JFET (junction field effect transistor) and MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) .
JFET | MOSFET |
---|---|
The JFET stand for junction field effect transistor. | MOSFET stand for metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor. |
JFET does not form the capacitance at the channel. | It forms the capacitor between channel and gate. |
JFETs can only be operated in the depletion mode. | MOSFETs can be operated in either depletion or in enhancement mode. |
It has two p-n junctions. | MOSFET have only one p-n junction. |
It has high input impedance. | It has very high input impedance. |
JFET is good for low noise application, low capacitance and high resistance input. | MOSFET is good for high noise application, switching application etc. |
It has no reverse body diode. | It has reverse body diode. |
JFET does not have insulated gate. | MOSFET have insulated gate structure. |
Drain resistance Rd is lower. | Drain resistance is higher. |
